Positive = 0

The positive direction of rotation, whatever was written — the target becomes anchor + 180° (a SINUMERIK axis whose plain words position as DC, MD30455 bit 2 set).

ProgrammedSide = 1

The side the programmed word lies on relative to the current position as the control displays it: a word above it turns positive, a word below it negative (HEIDENHAIN “according to the programmed value”; SINUMERIK AC “if the target position is greater than the actual position … positive, otherwise negative”). A rotary value the block carries without a word — a kinematic solve, the lookback fill — has no programmed side and takes the engine default.
